First PIA Flights with Medical Aids Land in Afghanistan

 We previously mentioned that PIA didn’t get permission for its special PIA flights to Kabul, but now the national flag carrier has landed in Afghanistan.



Afghanistan is facing a challenging situation as the clinics and hospitals are dramatically running out of supplies. People there need medication, so Pakistan International Airlines flight with the necessary medical supplies landed in Afghanistan to control the situation. The World Health Organization issued the stores, and WHO also said that it was the first such PIA flight to Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country.


The the situation of the Country

Afghanistan is facing a real hard time on approximately all fronts. After the deadly attack on the Kabul Airport, the complication has also increased. The country's citizens need medical supplies, but the hospitals and clinics are running out of them. So, the WHO decided to send some aid via PIA flight, and it reached Afghanistan from Dubai.

Quantity of the Supplies

The total weight of the supplies is said to be about 12.5 tons. All pools will be distributed across the country in 29 different provinces and 40 other health facilities. It will undoubtedly help the country but only for so long. The most common medicines that the Pakistan International Airlines flight carried were emergency and trauma kits.

How Many People will be Benefited?

The experts from WHO also said that these supplies are more than enough to fulfill the needs of more than 200,000 individuals. Moreover, it’ll also help more than 6,500 trauma patients and 3,500 surgical procedures.

Remarks of Ahmed Al-Mandhari?

He said that after days of continuous effort and hard work, the organization has partially replaced inventories of health institutions in Afghanistan.

Due to logistics and security restrictions, humanitarian organizations such as WHO have encountered significant problems bringing life-saving supplies and medicines to Afghanistan in recent months, Al-Kandharialso said.

He also praised the country (Pakistan) that provided the organization with a Boeing 747-400 PIA flight for the delivery.

According to the World Health Organization, this week's supply is only the first of many in a series of three flights with Pakistan International Airlines scheduled.

PIA’s CEO Remarks

Arshad Malik, the CEO(Chief Executive Officer) of Pakistan International Airlines, stated it was the moral obligation of Pakistan national air flag carrier to support the Afghan people. As directed by the Pakistanaviation minister and the government, Pakistan International Airlines would continue its humanitarian operations.

Kabul Airport Situation

Health professionals are abandoning the nation, and women health workers avoid work out of fear in Afghanistan. Because of the Taliban's quick conquest of Afghanistan, Kabul airport is in turmoil. A frantic attempt to exit the nation has drawn thousands to the location before the August 31 deadline for American pullout.

Several individuals, including 13 American service personnel, were killed when two suicide bombers attacked a gathering outside the airport's main entrance on Thursday, killing hundreds of others.
